Emile De Ceuninck (1935-1996)
Biography
Born in Brussels in 1935, Emile de Ceuninck did his musical studies at the Geneva Conservatory (piano, composition, orches- tration, Gregorian chant), where he received his diploma for music theory, counterpoint, fugue, percussion and conducting. Subsequently he studied in Hilversum (NL) with Dean Dixon and in Salzburg with Istvan Kertesz. He has taught for 20 years at the Conservatory of Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), and also teached music education at the teacher's college in Biel. Emile De Ceuninck's principal interest was composition. He works (symphonies, oratorios, ballets, chamber music, theater and film music, research in electroacoustic and folk music) have been performed at many international festivals. He died in 1996.
